Today on Sky Sports Racing: Ffos Las hosts six-race card

Wednesday’s six-race card at Ffos Las delivers a rare midweek feast of National Hunt action, moved forward to 3.37pm to avoid disruption from Monday’s solar eclipse. The condensed programme—now starting at 3.37pm rather than the originally scheduled 4.37pm—ensures uninterrupted viewing on Sky Sports Racing, with the Welsh track’s summer programme offering a concentrated dose of promising debutants, returning form horses and intriguing first-timers. Trainers with proven two-year-old handlers in their ranks have shaped a card where early impressions could carry significant weight, particularly given the compressed schedule.

Narrjoo leads a maiden field stacked with debut sparkle

The Meyer Timber EBF Maiden Stakes headlines the card, a seven-runner affair topped by Narrjoo, who finished second on his debut at Doncaster last month. Simon and Ed Crisford’s colt ran behind Godolphin’s Jassas but impressed enough to remain a live contender, with future entries in the Champagne Stakes and Goffs Million signalling serious owner confidence. He faces Drum Bay and Isabella de Vega, both of whom caught the eye on their respective debuts, while James Fanshawe’s Engraved—a 200,000gns Mehmas colt—could spring a surprise in his first race. The son of Ten Sovereigns has been targeted for higher-profile contests, indicating the stable’s belief in his potential.

Eskimo Pie seeks redemption against Mystic Veil’s debut

The Faucets The Bathroom Specialists Maiden Fillies’ Stakes pits Eskimo Pie against Mystic Veil, the latter making her debut as a half-sister to July Cup winner No Half Measures. Trained by Archie Watson, known for his two-year-old success, Mystic Veil arrives as a market watch candidate. Eskimo Pie, previously seventh in the 2025 Queen Mary Stakes, has shown flashes of class but inconsistency has blunted her progress; her Newmarket challenge ended in a bumped run, while subsequent efforts fell short. Ed Walker’s Mollstar, returning after reportedly being found lame, adds another layer of intrigue under Ashley Lewis. The filly’s third-place finish in a competitive race before injury suggests she may have been underestimated in her absence.

Market movers and debutant watch

Engraved’s first appearance under Fanshawe’s banner is the most intriguing newcomer, priced at 200,000gns and likely to attract early support. Mystic Veil’s debut follows a pattern of Watson’s juveniles stepping straight into competitive company, while Narrjoo’s rematch against Drum Bay and Isabella de Vega offers a chance to gauge whether his Doncaster form translates to Ffos Las. Mollstar’s return from a layoff could see her rediscover the form that saw her third in a competitive race before injury, while Eskimo Pie’s peak—evident in her Queen Mary run—remains the form reference for the fillies’ race. The condensed card, shifted forward to 3.37pm, ensures no moment is missed as the Welsh track’s summer programme gathers pace.

With debutants, returning horses and market-sensitive entries all in play, Wednesday’s racing offers more than just six races—it’s a snapshot of the season’s next wave of talent. The solar eclipse disruption has been sidestepped, but the quality of the field means the focus will remain firmly on the track.
